Superfoods for Spring!

At Lancashire Farm we love to put focus on health and maintaining a nutritional and balanced diet. Yogurt and all its power is most certainly part of that but what about the so called superfoods?

We look at some of the top superfoods you should be eating this year and how you can mix these with your favourite Lancashire Farm yogurt. Trust us, you’ll feel a staggering improvement in all the right areas in no time!

Walnuts

Walnuts are packed with goodness! Walnuts contain multiple powerful antioxidants that are crucial to your health and are believed to help how fast you age. They also contain an amino acid that helps to create the feel good chemical Serotonin so expect a mood related boost!

Amazing Fact – Just a quarter of a cup of walnuts provides more than 100 percent of the daily recommended value of plant-based omega-3 fats.

Other benefits – Helps to combat heart disease and helps with weight control.

Cooking Tip – Combine Lancashire Farm Greek Yogurt with toasted walnuts for a delicious snack. Add a drizzle of honey for added flavour!

Strawberries

Strawberries are also loaded with antioxidants that help keep your skin looking young and fresh. Not only this but they’re packed with Vitamin C for a high immunity boost.

Amazing Fact – One cup of strawberries will give you 100% of your daily requirement of Vitamin C.

Other benefits – Contains Ellagic acid which has anti-cancer properties, regulates blood pressure and helps with weight management.

Cooking Tip – Combine a cup of strawberries, 1 teaspoon of sugar, ½ cup of Lancashire Farm Greek Yogurt and ¼ cup of granola for a delicious strawberry and yogurt parfait breakfast.

Eggs

Eggs are a great mix of a lot of different nutrients our body needs. As well as lots of cholesterol benefits, eggs contain a nutrient called Choline that a lot of people don’t get enough of. Choline benefits the brain and with memory storage!

Cooking Tip – Use Lancashire Farm Greek Yogurt instead of milk with your scrambled eggs for a delightfully different taste! Add in a tablespoon of chopped fresh dill and 2 tablespoons of crumbled feta cheese for added flavour.

Blueberries

Fill your diet with blueberries and reap the benefits! Blueberries contain nutrients that help battle heart disease, help to maintain brain function and help to improve memory! All this and they’re oh so tasty!

Amazing Fact – Most blueberry flavoured processed food does not contain any real blueberries whatsoever. So watch out!
